Mjejane Game Reserve HOA Donates Soccer Kits to Steenbok Classic Football Club
On September 17, the Mjejane Game Reserve Home Owners Association (HOA) made a significant contribution to the local community by donating 30 full soccer kits to the Steenbok Classic Football Club. This initiative, in collaboration with I-Talk International and professional footballer Bradley Grobler, underscores the HOA’s commitment to community involvement and development.
A Heartfelt Contribution from Bradley Grobler
Bradley Grobler, a striker for SuperSport United in the Premier Soccer League and a member of the South African national team, played a pivotal role in this donation. As a homeowner in the Mjejane Game Reserve, Grobler expressed that supporting the community is a personal passion of his. “Football is very close to my heart, and this is something I have wanted to do for a very long time,” he stated. His previous involvement in similar charitable efforts, particularly in Mangweni, motivated him to participate in this initiative.
Grobler emphasized the importance of recognizing young talent in underrepresented areas like Steenbok. “Who knows? The next big South African star might come from Steenbok,” he remarked, highlighting the potential that exists within the community.
Upcoming Bradley Grobler Tournament
In addition to the donation, Grobler is planning a tournament that will involve both Steenbok and Mangweni. “To visit a place I love so much and help with soccer is something that I find exciting,” he shared. The tournament has been in the works for some time, with Grobler collaborating with various stakeholders to bring it to fruition. “I have already held meetings about it, and it’s definitely going to happen,” he confirmed, generating excitement within the community.
Continuous Community Engagement by I-Talk International
Aden Lahound from I-Talk International, who is also a homeowner in the Mjejane Game Reserve, spoke about the company’s ongoing commitment to community engagement. “This is one of the many ways in which we get involved in the community, and our engagements are continuous,” he explained. The donation included not only full soccer kits but also soccer boots, training bibs, and training nets, ensuring that the team is well-equipped for their journey ahead.
Lahound acknowledged the challenges the Steenbok Classic Football Club faces, particularly as they are part of the Nedbank League. He expressed a willingness to explore sponsorship opportunities for transport and other logistical needs as they learn more about the team’s programs.
Boosting Team Morale and Community Impact
Philani Tshabalala, the team manager of Steenbok Classic FC, expressed immense gratitude for the donation, stating that it serves as a significant confidence boost for the players. “We are so excited and grateful. This will encourage our boys to get onto the pitch with confidence, as it is often said that when you look good, you feel good,” he noted.
Tshabalala also highlighted the broader impact of such donations on the community. By providing young boys with the opportunity to engage in soccer, the initiative aims to keep them off the streets and away from negative influences, such as drugs and crime. “The community will appreciate the impact of these donations because this means that more young boys will be kept off the streets,” he added.
A Community United Through Sport
The collaboration between the Mjejane Game Reserve HOA, I-Talk International, and Bradley Grobler exemplifies how sports can serve as a powerful tool for community development. By investing in local talent and providing essential resources, these organizations are not only fostering a love for the game but also nurturing the potential of young athletes in the Steenbok area.
As the community looks forward to the upcoming tournament and the positive changes it may bring, the spirit of collaboration and support continues to thrive, proving that together, they can make a lasting impact.
